HM Armed Forces Night Vision Goggles - review:

Remember sending off for a pair of x-ray goggles you’d seen inside a small ad in the back of a comic book? Recall the bitter disappointment when they finally dropped from your letterbox, to be exposed as nothing greater than a pair of jumped-up sunglasses?

In that case, treat yourself to a visual-enhancement night vision gadget that actually lives up to its billing. These night vision goggles really do let you see in pitch darkness. The top element consists of an infrared lamp that floods the region ahead of you with “invisible light”. An infrared sensor then reads the scene in front and it will be displayed as an eerie, green, postage stamp-size picture in one eyepiece.

In “stealth” mode no light is visible from the torch, but turn up the brightness to illuminate objects up to 48ft away, and a weak, red glow can just about be seen from the night vision goggles.

Having the UK armed forces stamp and backing by the Ministry of Defence, this is similar to the modern machinery used by the military using infrared light  – the UK Army also makes use of image intensifiers to enhance ambient light on its night vision goggles.  These night vision goggles are the sort of equipment utilised by the security industry, and even in stealth mode it efficiently lights up the darkest room. Outside use demands the high-power option, unless you particularly like walking into things.

Moving about takes some getting used to since the screen provides you with few clues for depth perception but you soon get used to this and it doesn’t ruin the fun.

The casing is rugged ABS Plastic and build quality is nice, with strong changeable straps giving a comfortable fit. A battery pack that takes 5 AA cells sits to the rear of your head and helps balance the weight of the goggles.  Battery life is very good and have they an estimated life of 5 hours to easily cope with all your night vision missions.

Whether you propose to use them to watch badgers or to chase the kids across the garden, a share of the income from the official night vision goggles goes to the Ministry of Defebce – not towards a fourth Trident sub, but for UK public relations activities.

This review is from: HM Armed Forces Deluxe Night Vision Goggles They are a excellent set of goggles. I bought a pair as a gift for my boyfriends birthday more as being a joke then anything but they’ve been really great specially on these very dark winter nights. Fantastic to play around in, particularly for the kids. I’d positively recommend this night vision gadget to all budding spies!

These night vision goggles had been purchased for my ten year old grandson and he loves them. They really do let you see in the dark and you can change the view from green to white based on which fits you the best. They are quite sturdy also, the batteries seem to be lasting quite well (one months continual use). That owl in the churchyard can’t elude us any more.

I got the feeling from the illustration that this was a monocular device with a shielding cap left over one of the eyepieces. The truth is it is binocular and one eyepiece cap is detached for standard vision, replace for full night vision! Quality product and a lot better than what I expected and has made a perfect gift for my boyfriend!

This is just the type of equipment employed by the security industry, and even in stealth mode it lights up the darkest room. A great Night Vision Binocular deal can be found online today.  Stock levels at play.com, Amazon.com, argos, ebay, dixons, currys, PC World and Tesco will be in short supply this Christmas in the UK – order now to avoid disappointment. Order your night vision goggles now and get free delivery.
